Don Meziere went red by .008-second and Paul Mitsos was declared the victor in the Top Sportsman final. The cherry on top was a clean 7.098-second pass at 191.21 mph in his purple ’08 Stratus. It was Mitsos’ second career final at the national event level, and the Eastvale, CA-resident was exuberant as he claimed his first win in front of a large group of family and friends.
The build took Edwards more than two years to complete, and he funded the entire build out of his own pocket. “This is a completely home-built project, no professionals involved,” Edwards said. “From the design and construction of the frame to the finished paint, it was all home-built.” The belly tank racer was built with strict adherence to the SCTA rule book, and Edwards intended to race his creation at the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association‘s World of Speed event in 2017.
Fuel injectors and the rails that hold them are just as susceptible to heat issues as the carburetors they replaced. Located on top of the engine, fuel rails see a lot of heat exposure. On late model vehicles this issue is further compounded by how compact and tight modern engine compartments tend to be, along with the factory engine covers that are all the rage these days, trapping even more heat that can be transferred to the fuel as it flows through the rails on its way to the injectors.
More importantly, the video will show some simple tests you can do to make sure your mass airflow sensor is the cause of your problem, so you don’t waste money by replacing perfectly good parts. Think because your engine is fuel injected you don’t need to worry about heat causing you problems and stealing horsepower?
“It’s always nerve-wracking pulling the cars out after a long off season, but it was a great race with a lot of great competition,” Rizzoli said. “Phoenix was my first race last year, and I won that one—so evidently, watch out for me at the first race of the year.”
The CP Carrillo-backed Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot left the starting line with a psychic .029-second reaction time and kept right on going for a 5.425, 269.67 win over Swede Ulf Leanders’ 5.508, 268.33. Aggressively testing in Phoenix prior to the Winternationals paid off for Top Alcohol Dragster driver Shawn Cowie, who scored his 11th national event win and second season-opener Wally with a defeat of Garrett Bateman.
There are several pet trackers on the market that can help you train your hunting dog or keep an eye on any pet that goes “off-leash” from time to time. Into bicycling? Take Patches along for the ride with a pet trailer for your bike. Available in several sizes and styles, they’re a great way to enjoy biking with your furry pal—unless your dog is coordinated enough to pedal a tandem. This is an engine specification guide for General Motors’ fifth-generation L83 and L8B engines that launched in 2014.
I would like to get about 350 hp out of the new engine and run in the 13s. Is this possible with my combination? Your crate 350 should be okay for use with a TPI system. We recommend checking the engine’s camshaft specifications. Most “computer-friendly” cam profiles are no bigger than 214-222 degrees duration at .050 and .450-.460 inches of lift with 112-116 degrees of lobe separation. If the cam in the new 350 is much over these figures, you should consider a different camshaft to ensure compatibility with the IROC’s computer.
